ABSTRACT

The conventional sugical procedure for hydrocele, eversion of sac (with or without partial excision of sac), still remains the most popular one for hydrocele. The new technique is an easy, quick and simple operation. And it avoids postoperative complications. A clinical observation was made on 14 patients of hydrocele who were admitted to the Department of UroIogy, Han-Il. Hospital during the 12 months period from May, 1989 to April, 1990 and surgically treated by `window procedure` with good results.

ABSTRACT

Leiomyoma is rare. Most of patients present with urinary tract infection, hematuria, dyspareunia, or complaint of mass. A case of leiomyoma on urethrovaginal septum in a 36 years old female was presented. The presenting symptom was a protruding mass at the anterior vaginal wall The mass was removed surgically and confirmed as a leiomyoma pathologically.

ABSTRACT

Fifteen stress urinary incontinence patients were treated using the modified endoscopic suspension of the bladder neck that eliminates all incisions during the period from January 1990 to December 1990. The average operation time was 26 minutes and the mean days of urethral Foley catheter removal were 3.9 days operation. Two point three days were required to restore the normal voiding pattern. Of 15 patients treated. 1 failure occurred, for an overall success rate of 93%. There had been no significant complications. Therefore, no-incision pubovaginal suspension was simple and effective means treating stress urinary incontinence.

ABSTRACT

Emphysematous pyelonephritis is a rare complication of severe acute pyelonephritis and a suppurative infection of the renal parenchyma characterized by the production of gas by bacteria through fermentation. Emphysematous pyelonephritis occurs in patient with diabetes mellitus or urinary obstruction. We review the diagnosis and management of emphysematous pyelonephritis and report a case of emphysematous pyelonephritis developed in renal tuberculosis.

ABSTRACT

Rhadomyosarcoma of the prostate is relatively rare and highly malignant condition. Three major categories of rhabdomyosarcoma exist, which should be kept clearly separated: pleomorphic, embryonal, and alveolar Pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma is actually the least common of the three categories. It arises from myotome-derived skeletal muscle and occurs almost exclusively in adults. We make the unequivocal diagnosis of pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma only if we can detect cross striations in some of the tumor cells. Herein we experienced a pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma of the prostate which is generally not found in the urogenital area and reviewed literature briefly.

ABSTRACT

Cystinuria is an autosomal recessive inherited defect in renal tubular reabsorption of four amino acids, cystine, ornithine, lysine and arginine. Homozygotes were identified by the formation of urinary tract calculi composed of cystine and by gross hyperexcretion of above mentioned four amino acids. Urinary tract calculi composed primarily of cystine are rare in adults and children. These are usually pure and found exclusively in patients with cystinuria. Herein we report on a 4 and 3/12 years old male child with a right renal stone composed primarily of cystine which was confirmed by chemical analysis method postoperatively. After discharge he has been treated with D-penicillamine, large fluid intake and conversion of urine pH.

ABSTRACT

We have analyzed 100 urinary calculi by chemical analysis, which obtained from the patients admitted our department during the period from March, 1981 to February, 1983. The following results were obtained: 1. The results of chemical analysis of 100 urinary calculi revealed calcium oxalate phosphate in 43%, calcium oxalate in 19%, calcium phosphate in 15%, ammonium phosphate in 12%, carbonate calcium oxalate phosphate in 7%, uric acid in 2%, acid + calcium phosphate in 2%. 2. 40 of 100 patients with urinary stones showed bacteriuria and Staphylococcus epidermidis was the most frequent organism. 3. The causative diseases of the urinary stones were renal tuberculosis 4 cases, neurogenic bladder in 4 cases, urethral stricture in 3 cases, BPH in 1 case and hyperparathyroidism in 1 case. 4. The incidence of high urinary calcium amount was greater in lithiasis group(43%) than in control group(17%) The incidence of high urinary calcium amount in lithiasis group was as following order: calcium oxalate phosphate in 55.8%, calcium phosphate in 46.7%, calcium in 42.1% and ammonium phosphate in 28%.

ABSTRACT

We experienced a case of spontaneous rupture of renal angiomyolipoma appeared unilateral and solitary tumor without stigma of tuberous sclerosis in 49 years old women. Renal angiomyolipoma which are not associated with tuberous sclerosis appear at an average of 48 years and are more common in women with a ratio of 6:1 and is a benign tumor. Angiography may be helpful in the differentiation of an angiomyolipoma from renal cell carcinoma. The first symptoms are often due to sudden spontaneous perineal hemorrhage. The patient was managed by left total nephrectomy with good result.

ABSTRACT

An unusual case of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the bladder in a 77 year old man, who presented with difficult urination, gross hematuria and vague lower abdominal pain. Herein, we report a case of rhabdomyosarcoma. which revealed early recurrence and rapid growing up after partial cystectomy.

ABSTRACT

A 3 year and 3 months old boy with recurrent infections since his age of 5 months was presented with clinical data and autopsy findings. He was the 4th product of healthy parents. His elder brother died of recurrent perianal abscess and sepsis at his age of 3 years. His 2nd elder sister died on the 14th day of life probably from the complication of BCG vaccination. Beginnig with perianal abscesses at his age of 5 months, he has been continuously suffering from recurrent infections such as arthritis, ostomyelitis, pneumonia, epididymitis, subcutaneous abscesses and perianal abscesses. In spite of meticulous supportive and aggressive antibiotic therapy persistent positive cultures for staph. Aureus, klebsiella, E. Coli, Enterococcus and coliform bacilli from different sited were noted. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate of 25 to 40 were constant. White cell count varied frem 15500 to 33400 with polymorphonucleocytes predominance. NBT test showed persistent low scoring of 2% throught the course. He finally died of pneumonia and empyema. At postmortem examination, multiple abscesses and grnulomas of right lung and multipe granulomas in the liver, spleen, lymph node, bone, marrow, adrenal gland, kidney and intestinal wass were noted. At microscopic examination histiocytic granulomas with lipid containing histiocyte infiltrations were noted in every organs described including brain.
